There is any number of
different home remedy cures for acid reflux going around. Some
of them are effective while others are of no use at all. One
such possible cure you may or may not have heard of is eating
mangos. In this article we will take a closer look at what
exactly acid reflux is, and hence why mangos may be able to
provide effective relief.
Before going on to
consider how does mango help acid reflux we should understand
exactly what acid reflux is. Acid reflux occurs when excess
acid from the stomach backwashes up through the chest to the
throat and into the esophagus. This means that any kind of
remedy which is able to neutralize these acids may prove to
help control acid reflux. One of these such types of food and
drink that many people believe can do this is
mangos.
Like any fruit, the mango
is full of juices and these can work to neutralize the acid
found in other foods that you have eaten. This helps to reduce
the overall acid levels in the stomach which can only be a good
thing when trying to obtain relief from the painful symptoms of
acid reflux such as heartburn.
Apart from being able to
neutralize dangerous acids, the mango is also able to coat the
stomach and throat linings. This is due to it being very thick
and sweet and the lining that the juices create is able to
provide a protective cover from the harmful acids.
The great thing about
trying mangos as a cure for acid reflux problems is that it is
a cheap and easy solution to try. Mangos are plentifully
available from any supermarket or grocery store and as a fruit
should be eaten anyway as a part of any healthy diet. Everyone
is different, though, and you may find that mangos do not
provide any help in giving relief from acid reflux symptoms.
However, there is no harm in trying them and if they turn out
to be effective then you have a very cheap and tasty home
remedy to call on.
